Aristotle gave the butterfly the name psyche , the Greek word for soul. Many cultures relate butterflies to the human soul. In ancient Greek the word for butterfly is “psyche” which means “soul”, and was also the name of Eros’ human lover.

This gorgeous lacy butterfly necklace was handmade from sterling silver.

The intricate pattern was created from two individual designs hand sawed using a jeweller’s saw, that once joined, create a stunning 3-D lace effect.

The Butterfly could be worn with either side facing forward, though the side designated as the back has been stamped with the 925 sterling silver mark, as well as a ZA stamp, but these are small.

The raised surfaces were polished to a shine, and the recessed areas are a shiny satin finish.
